The National Curriculum
The school is obliged by law to follow the ‘National Curriculum’.
The learning areas we cover are as follows;
English Art Mathematics Music
Science Religious Studies (RE)
I T Physical Education (PE)
History Design & Technology (DT)
Geography Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
The National Curriculum gives us a framework within which we plan what we want the children to learn. This planning must also pay attention to how children learn.
We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved. ‘Learning by doing’ makes the work more interesting, more meaningful, more likely to make sense and more likely to be remembered.
All children from years 1 to 6 follow the National Curriculum.
Children in the reception class follow the Foundation Stage curriculum which includes personal, social and emotional development; communication, language and literacy; mathematical development; knowledge and understanding of the world; physical and creative development.
