Hard at work home learning
In this video, we see a child and a parent hard at work on their home learning tasks. A huge well done to you both, and to all our parents who are busy aiding their children in their learning.

A message from Mrs Harding – Mother’s Day 2020
In this video, we hear a message from our acting Headteacher Mrs Harding aimed at the many children and parents at home on Mother’s Day 2020 and for the forseeable future as we take part in self isoltation together to combat Coronavirus.
World Book Day
Yesterday, we celebrated reading by dressing up as book characters. We were impressed with the costumes we saw and the effort you all went to.
Every child will have received a £1 book token this week. This can be used in book shops to buy a book to the value of £1 or as a token towards the full price of a book. We will have a book fair at school from Thursday 19th – Thursday 26th March which will accept these book vouchers.
Book Week
We have had book characters strutting down the catwalk in collective worship and children running round the playground looking for frogs flying on lily pads as part of our book week. All classes have focused on the story Tuesday by David Wiesner – a book which has gripped the whole school all week in a tale of an invasion of amphibians (ask your children).
Three children from each class also won prizes (a book!) for the most creative, best homemade or most fabulous costumes.
Breakfast Club
As you know we are working with the team from Ultimate Sports, who are running our successful after school club. Ultimate Sports also offer Breakfast Club which is £5.00 per day (7.30am – 8.45am). The children will have breakfast (toast and cereals) and morning activities with Ricardo, Maria and Jerell. The team have forged some great relationships with our children and we hope you can make use of this valuable provision.
Please speak to the office for an application.

Parents Evening
Thank you to everyone who came to parents’ evening this week. We have enjoyed talking to you about your child’s learning.
Colleagues from Southwark Local Authority and the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education visited us this week and commented on: the great progress we are making in teaching and learning especially in writing; the wonderful support that our teaching assistants give to our children and the high focus given to high quality texts throughout the school.
I was extremely proud to show them around our school and thrilled that they noticed all of the good things happening at St Mary Magdalene School.
Our value “Wonder”
Our value this term at St Mary Magdalene Primary School is “Wonder”. We asked some children and staff what the word “Wonder” meant to them. Here are the results. Please press on the play button to listen.
